Last summer the Aircon gave up and I have only just got around to scanning it - Any ideas please for a DIYer

I know about the door lock - so igniore that

I always have to charge the battery up via mains so whats up with this? again DIYer ideas for me

Also I have unplugged the internal alarm sensors - so ignore that too.

Also last year the engine temp dial would drop out occaisionally but it ok now?

Beer tokens on offer for anyone who can help get this working normally again.....Paypal gift ok?

I would suspect the radiator/condenser fan is not engaging when the AC is turned on BUT on the T5 you can have a faulty compressor without any codes and this is very common. Make sure the fan comes on with the system in AC mode. Also check the drive coupling has not sheared.

Thanks I have just checked this and there are 2 fans spinning when the air con is switched on and they stop when the air con is switched off.

    What would you check next,

    thanks

Ideally a proper pressure test but if the AC system is not reporting a pressure problem then you need to look at the compressor drive to make sure it is running and that a seized compressor hasn't caused the drive coupling to shear which is its purpose. If the compressor is being driven, there are no codes and the pressure is correct you have to take a gamble and assume it is the compressor and this is a very common failure on the 5 cylinder T5.

It is possible to test the compressor using a special electronic tester to measure the modulator current but it is daft money and with experience, you don't need it. You can also change the modulator but we prefer the piece of mind a new Denso unit gives.

Cheers after the heat wave last I have finally got this into a VW indy specialist.

one of my Filling valves had a bad leak so yesterday it got refilled and its holding pressure so I assume my Compressor is running ok( its still in the garage as I type) the mech says that there is a fault on the Cooling fan.

Not sure if it could be related but my engineTemperature sesnor has died also?
