Anyone know the secrets of the A5 electrical system? I can't identify a fuse for dashboard lights, likewise front fog/driving lights and sidelight appear to be out. Main and dipped beam OK, indicators OK.

I assume it's something more complicated than a simple fuse...

I can see there is a 'Control Unit for Instrument Cluster' listed in the handbook on the brown fuse cluster, but there are also several other 'Control Unit for vehicles electrical system' listed as well. Is there anyway of diagnosing things further or is it a matter of switching stuff out?

    Thanks
    William

Without checking I can’t be sure but I would suspect there is no fuse and all those lights are controlled by the Body Control Module. Private Message me the REG and I will check at work.

The illumination setting from the headlight switch goes to the J519 BCM which then sends an output on a grey/blue wire to all the consumers such as dash, cig lighter illumination, switch illumination etc so are all the out as well?

    Thanks Crasher,

Odd. Cig Lighter illum on, switch illum on headight switch is out, neither front or rear fog light switches illuminate.

Cig Lighter stays on whether ignition on/off and headlight switch on off/side/auto/on. Dash and headlight switch illum out on all combinations.

I'll check all wiring into the back of the headlight switch.

Finally got around to doing this, no sign of any probems with connector. On taking the switch out and removing the front cover I've realised all the LED illumination on the switch setting positions are out, so I'm suspecting its a faulty switch.

10.6.20 : Update to close this off: Faulty switch. Very easy change, remove side/fuse panel, pop out switch, ony one 4 pin connector to remove, pop back in.

Thanks to Crasher for his response.

A shout out if I may for Motors in Motion who despatched a repacement switch sourced via ebay. DHL next day delivery.
