    Hi folks,

I wonder if anyone could suggest a ballpark figure for a local independent to carry out replacement of the offside strut mount on the vehicle in my sig.

I'm getting a definite groaning and vibration through the coil spring when rotating the steering wheel while stationary. I would normally attempt this type of job myself, but want to save myself the hassle in the current climate.

    Any thoughts welcome. Thanks.

When our Touran was groaning it was the top inch or two of of the spring snapped off, so not sitting in the top cup squarely / securely. £200 or so for it to be sorted out with new spring IIRC.

If the strut has been off before in the last couple of years it could be the top nut coming loose. Seen it on a couple of golfs. I have made a tool for it (iirc 22mm socket with nut welded to it, spanners just don't go far enough into the recess to get it tight)
