Hi guys me again with this dreaded CAVD engine

For a few months I have had the common clutch friction material squeak from the magnetic clutch the car was fine full power so I didn’t worry to much

Drove the car on Friday noticed there was like a hissing/grinding noise didn’t see anything untoward so drove it all was fine. Used it Saturday fine again till I came back the the car and the low coolant warning was on topped it up and limped it home I had a quick look underneath and noticed coolant had been sprayed everywhere mostly over all the auxiliary belt and the underneath of the car. So I suspect my water pump bearing has gone and it’s losing coolant through that

also I noticed the supercharger clutch isn’t moving freely at idle is this normal

am I potentially missing something I have begun to strip it down and the supercharger casing is soaked, I’m in half a mind to take the inlet manifold off just so I can make double sure it’s not a split pipe

Dreaded! The VAG TFSI twin charger was 2006 to 2014 engine of the year in its class and in 2006 was “Best new engine” outright but this ignores what happened later in its life, quite sincerely if someone PAID me to own a car with this engine I would think they had my financial destruction at heart, an ABSOLUTE piece of junk that shows “green” policies often serve up “brown” **** based results... Don’t take the inlet manifold off as you may pull the injectors and you need a special tool to fit new seals which are a MUST. In between trying to do other things I have been putting one back together in a Scirocco... a bit more tomorrow if I can find time.

cheers mate I will leave the inlet manifold on lol.

I seriously can’t wait to be in a better position and part ex this f***king piece of S**t in for something else

im guessing the water pump bearings are quite prone to going if the magnetic clutch seizes/sticks

Water pumps on normal engines are usually cheap easy service parts, on the CAVD they are a seriously over complicated noisy (clack clack) expensive contraption that has no place in a daily driver... exotic sports car maybe but a shopping trolley... no get the ****! Whichever twonk of an engineer thought it was a good idea should be stacking shelves, not designing engines for day to day cars owned by people with typical bank balances like me and thee.
