Hi there everyone,

I have a 2006 2.0L SDI Caddy, BST engine at 146K miles that has these two problems:

  • When parked uphill overnight or for a few hours it fails to start in the morning, it cranks but doesn't start. I think there should be a leak somewhere allowing air in the fuel line draining the fuel back in the tank. Parked facing downhill the van starts no problem.

  • When slowing down, say approaching a roundabout, the engine cuts out, with engine cold or hot or anything, it seems like temp doesn't matter. This happens onl if revs are above 1200rpm, while braking and changing to neutral to get to a stop. The revs hand dives in all the way from 1200rpm to 0, with power steering getting heavy and all that. A turn on the key and it fires it up straight away no problem. Sometimes this is not even necessary as if the van is still in motion, as selection to 2nd gear can bump start it back to life super easily. I have also noticed that if I clutch down this cut out won't happen at all.

I don't know if these two problems are interlinked or separate, and I would like your ideas, as I cannot afford to start changing parts until I figure out what's wrong.

So far I have taken the car to 2 garages, both plugged it in that showed no errors, first guys changed the fuel filter that was found in an awful black state, but this didn't resolve any of the problems, and the second a VW specialist put new injector seals on, saying they would look at the tandem pump next if still the problem remains, which it does.

Any ideas what this could be, as it is driving me crazy!

Thank
