    Hi all,
I have a 2005 A4 cabriolet, the electric window switch on the drivers door isn’t working properly.
I rescued the car from someone’s drive, it hadn’t been used or even moved for 7 years.
Initially only the passenger side rear window was trouble, it would go down with the switch, but wouldn’t come up? Not even with the switch to move all windows. You have to activate the roof to close it. Recently the passenger window has developed the same fault, it will open but not close, the passenger door switch is fine. Also the switch for all windows opens, sometimes hesitant but now won’t close.
I’ve had the door apart and checked the wiring loom, that looks fine, I haven’t tested with a multimeter as I couldn’t remove the loom from the door pillar, couldn’t get the plug off? Any suggestions?
Also can anyone help with suggestions on how to test the door switch itself? Or any suggestions on how to remedy this annoying problem?
    Thanks

Is the battery fully charged? Some things don't work well when it is low.

The various switches are often electrically swappable from side to side even if they won't fit nicely in the trim. Take a look at the connections to see if you think they are the same pins and purpose. Not sure why your multimeter won't let you test basic switching though. Am I missing something?

    Hi,
I couldn’t test with my multimeter as I couldn’t remove the wiring loom from the door pillar
Couldn’t remove the plug? Didn’t want to break it
I don’t think the switch could be swapped, the driver side has 5 switches whereas the passenger side only one
    Battery is new
Thanks for your help and suggestions
