    Hi All
I have a A6 Avant 2009 and have a problem with the license plate lights there’s no power coming from the comfort module in the boot I have ordered a replacement module but due to the present climate will take some time to get it my question is can I remove the module and check for anything obvious without causing any problems or does anyone have any other ideas of what I can do
    cheers

module may not be at fault - if a bulb blows / loose connection etc the module will shut down the power - found this out the hard way myself when trying to diagnose an intermittent brake light

Have you checked the wiring the conduit from the roof to the tailgate as wires can snap.

Is there continuity from a thin grey+yellow wire at position 9 of a 15 pin connector on the module to the license plate lamps? If you put 12V to that wire from cigarette socket while unplugged to lamps light up (assuming they are incandescent type - not a good idea if they are LED)?

Also, to add what VAG-Abound said, there is also a 17 pin connector in the right D-Pillar and pin 4 (grey/yellow) and another connector in rear Lid (pin 4) if you need to follow the circuit to the lamps.

The code number on my existing module is the same as the module that I have bought although this from a different A6 so is it possible to do a straight exchange?
