    Hi to all
Have just purchased a 2006 2.0 tdi in excellent condition, however, the engine sounds really lumpy with no power when driving. It will drive along at any speed once you get there, but when trying to accelerate, the engine rattles as if its "pinking" and doesn't pick up. Have had egr checked and cleaned. Loom was checked and appeared fine. Injectors all have power going to them but have not been removed to be checked. Could the intercooler be the problem?? Car has done 200000 miles
Any help would be appreciated as its a nice clean car with no other issues.
    Thanks

It's a 2.0tdi....what, though? What's the engine code? From what you say, I'd be inclined to think a leak on the induction side, given no DTCs. Can you hear a whistling/siren type sound when you accelerate? Is there any smoke?

I would guess it is a Golf 5 with a BKD engine. The first thing I would do (after a code read) is open up the fuel filter and check for engine oil contamination.

Yes, this. I had a Passat with the BKP motor, fuel contaminated with engine oil due to tandem pump gasket failure. Intermittent no-start condition, sometimes ran but with DTCs suggesting injector malfunction. Once gasket renewed and fuel system purged, ran like a dream.

I would certainly remove injectors & get the spray pattern checked for starters. Owing to the mileage this vehicle has done
