A4 rear d/s door won’t open

Hi
Haven’t been on for a while
My A4 avant rear door won’t open
It was working last week.
All other doors lock/unlock/open as they should
Rear door will not open from outside or inside. I have had car for 7 years and the child locks have been used .
Any thoughts on issue and how to resolve?

Hi, I only just rejoined, and this problem is one of the reasons why I did. My Bora rear door wouldn't open and I left it alone for 10 months, which was a bad idea. I asked a few garages but only the VW dealer were willing to do it and it's going to be expensive. So, YouTube a few new tools a lot of patience, I did it myself. Breaking the actuator with a big screwdriver was the hardest bit but the door finally popped open. I won't let a door get to that state again I'll renew it before I'm locked out.
Hope this isn't too depressing.

You are right. It is depressing lol
I can here something inside clicking when I pull the internal handle. But nothing releases

Guess I’ll have a bash (literally) tomorrow. Got nothing else to do at the moment

Hi sullydog, I watched loads of YouTube videos and I said to the misses there's no way I can do this. But I watched one over and over I thought I'd give it a go. I bought plastic trim tools (cheap on Ebay) and a good quality spline bit. It's a bitch until you get the door open. Getting the door panels off with the door shut is awkward. I bought a genuine second hand door lock off Ebay for £16. I have another car so I didn't put any pressure on my self, even if you just get the door card off you may save an hour on garage fees.
