    Morning all,

Just about had enough of the car now..

Hoping someone may be able to point me in the right direction, last couple days the car will go into ?limp mode? with no CEL, no obvious symptoms.

Can be driving on motorway OR around town and lose all power, turbo shuts off, sometimes it comes back on after 10 to 20 seconds, always comes back cycling the ignition. Will try to check boost pipes for cracks etc when I get home later today, which seems the most obvious thing to check to me but any other advice would help a lot.

Any ideas what it could be? Not familiar with the layout of the 2.0ltr engines so if someone has a diagram of the boost/vac pipes and components for me it would be much appreciated. I don't know anyone that can do a diagnostic scan local to me and I assume it's not going to throw a generic code for me to read

Probably classic coked up VNT turbo , needs cleaning .

Then there's the planned obsolescence ticking time bomb of the oil pump drive to sort out .

So basically it's better off being scapped? It burns a fair amount of oil, I've had PDs before this one and they all used a bit, guess it was from the engine breather fairly normal so I learnt but this is almost like a leak yet no leaks around engine. Possibly bad seals in turbo I guess, had turbo checked last year was told all normal, slight wooing noise if you listen carefully but not bad enough for me to be concerned. Really hope it's just a cracked pipe or something simple

You need a code read to see why it is going into limp mode.

Currently 151,000 so it's going well considering the age but I'm almost 100% certain a previous owner had the DPF gutted and a bad remap put on the car. Its been better since I've been doing about 30 miles each way to and from work though. Starting to think the injectors could be on their last legs. Giving it a good service and engine bay cleanup at the weekend and fitting new front discs and pads. The rear pads locked up last year and destroyed the pads and discs and one of the electric park brake motors had seized.

Any experience with a 2.0 tdi that smells rancid on idle and visible white smoke coming from the exhaust? On WOT it smokes like a tdi with no DPF but according to VW it should be fitted with one, it has one on their but I've never had a light come on and had no obvious regen happen

With the DPF removed the BMR exhaust emissions can be be so bad they make your eyes water and cause breathing difficulties even a few feet away. To put a new DPF and injectors in a 2007 3C basically kills the car. The easiest way to test a DPF is to give it the finger of truth... watch it's not hot though!
