So my EGR valve needs replacing.
After some googling around, found this AGR EGR Ventil wechseln austauschen Abgasrückführungssystem Audi A6 2,7 4F5 Diesel - YouTube .
Replacing looks like a breeze, so got around and ordered a new valve.

So today figured I'd just get this done. However, after losening the three torx screws, the EGR valve doesn't move a tenth of a mm. I've banged on it with a large hammer and piece of wood, I've tried twisting it with biggest water pump pliers I had lying around, but - the d**n thing won't move at all

What is the magic trick here?

    Car is A6 2009 2.7 tdi.

Does the EGR twist once those three torx are removed? Properly removed, not just loosened...
Have you disconnected some of those wires that seem to be in the way, to get more hand movement room?

And a massive screwdriver to pry it up a bit as you twist (but not too much, don’t want to break stuff)

No, the EGR doesn't twist even 1/10 of a mm when the torx are removed....

Yes, disconnected some stuff to get room for my biggest water pump plier.

Was thinking in the terms of a crowbar or similar, but there really isn't room, or anything to bend against without breaking stuff.

It must be all the gunk and ****.
it might be worth running the engine up to temperature and then trying to remove it.
That way, it might be a bit looser.

Did my Egr the other day on my 3.0tdi cdya
Its a bugger of a job, easily removed the 3 bolts, wiring. I basically destroyed the old one getting it out, side to side movement did nothing. Loads of carb cleaner sprayed around helped. Ended up with grips around the actual metal inner moveing valve and wiggled for ages. All of a sudden felt it let go. Not a nice job, patience and carb cleaner needed. Trust me its just stuck.
