    Hi,

    newbie question,

I have a 2015 2.0TDI, the radiator cooling fans seem to be running (at speed) virtually every time I get out the car!
The car seems to be running fine, coolant level is good, however the fact the fans are running like they do when the engine is cold just doesn't seem right to me!

    Thoughts anyone....

    Thanks in advance..

It sounds like the engine is trying to regenerate the Diesel Particle Filter after lots of short runs.

It is normal, but it would be better if you took the car for a longer run, probably at least 10 miles.

That should allow it to complete a regen & all should be good again.

    Thanks for the info.

Only being doing short journey's during this lockdown period, local shop and back. My normal journey to work is circa 30 miles each way, 75% of which is on the motorway, so at speed. Would the DPF clog up this quickly?

    Thanks..

Doing very short journeys can be problematic for DPF equipped engines.

My daughter has a (Please no Swearing) Peugeot 308 2.0ltr diesel and this suffered the same in recent weeks, I have just been for a 25>30 mile run, using one gear lower than normal (using 5th gear instead of 6th) to help increase engine RPM DPF regen completed OK and fans now run as normal.
