Thoughts on this issue 2009 Audi 2.0 tdi BPW engine
Recently changed the turbo all went well till I started the car flashed up straight away after a couple of minutes gave it a little rpm 3k and the low pressure oil flashed on for about 3 secs just after the engine just stopped. Tried to restart it and it just turned over 3 or 4 times and stopped. Engine wasnt hot as only been running a couple of minutes. New battery still the same turns a couple of times slowly then stops.
Have now taken front of car put a bar on the crankshaft and although was initially tight is now freely moving and you can feel each piston coming to tdc.

Any ideas and possible way forward is the engine scrap or have I missed a bullet and something just needs replacing

I think you have oil pump drive failure there, random, common and nothing to do with what you have done; it’s a scenario every garage fears.

Being a 2008 (it can’t be an 8E and be a 2009 model) it is at least gear driven but does have that incredibly stupid reversion back to a 77mm hex, I cannot comprehend why they went 77, 100, 77 and back to 100; whichever ***** of a bean counter was responsible for that decision should not be in a position of responsibility.

They had loads of 77mm modules left and thought , "Oh well.."

He's very certain on BPW which is a PD , a late registered B7 or just B8 but confused on engine code which should be CR ?

The BPW ran through to the end of 8E production in theory but received the 100mm shaft at late 2006.
