hi all i am new to this forum. my wife has a a6 c5 allroad quattro it had the orginial rns-e sat nav headunit and bose system comprising of 4 door speakers, amp in the boot along with cd changer. i have taken out the headunit disconnected the amp and installed a poineer headunit.

The issue i have is the new headunit keeps restarting itself. The only wires that are currently connected is the (black) ground, (red) ignition live and the (yellow) constant live i have connected a multimeter and i am getting the voltage but cannot get the headunit to stay on anyone got any ideas?

Is it some form of smart unit that is rebooting, or simple audio device? Is the multimeter showing a steady 12V on both lines? How have you adapted car wiring to fit radio?
I'd be inclined to consider faulty head unit unless you know otherwise.

We had this on my business partners 2005 4BH (it’s proper type number) Allroad and it was the early CAN BUS system in the dash, we were up to our necks in spanner work so we gave it to our local Hifi shop who had supplied the unit and they sorted it out with a CAN BUS adapter.
