Filled up 1.4s vw 2009 but only says 300to full tank

Hi I've recently become a VW golf 1.4s 3dr 09 owner on getting it today I filled it up for it to only show miles for tank to 300 that's all I thought it would been higher the gauge was reading full too
Should I be worried or shrug it off and it will go up n up or adjust accordingly. Car has full service history 77k miles

The 300 mile ranges is based on previous useage. If it was mainly short runs or urban use then the 300 miles is about right.(27mpg)

Yes it will adapt to your driving style. On my Octavia, if I have spent a month doing nothing but work,home, work, home which is 1mph urban crawl (except at the moment ) my full tank range will show approx 300 miles after filling up. If I do a long 70mph drive to empty and then fill up, it will say 550 miles but rapidly decline if I go back to the city crawl.

It depends if you use memory 1 current driving or memory 2 the average since you last fill up or reset memory 2 in the MFD.
