    Hi everyone,

New to the forum but looks to be a good depth of knowledge on here!
I've just bought a 2009 Golf Sportline estate which eventually I want to use as my work car; I'm an industrial steam boiler engineer so heavyish tools.
The rear suspension is mega soft and has dropped a fair amount causing the wheels to not sit straight so I want to replace it. My question is simple but just want to make sure. As it's the Sportline model I'm assuming it's fitted with the sport suspension such as this sold on Euro Car Parts?

    Coils:
Sachs Coil Spring | Euro Car Parts

    Shocks:
Sachs Shock Absorber | Euro Car Parts

Or as I'll be carrying a boot full of tools is it better to fit heavy duty springs and if so where can I buy these please?

On the other hand I've read good things about Koni Special-Active shocks, look to just be an OEM direct replacement, will these fit a car with the "sport" suspension? Has anyone got experience with these?

It has the 1JC rear sports suspensions uses the specific rear springs 1K0 511 115 BT and dampers plus shortened 118mm rear bump stops so the rear springs cross reference correctly but the rest of it is unclear as the internet seems to have Covid and is being unreliable.

Ha ha, thanks for the info. So I'd assume if those springs from Euro Car Parts match up then the shocks will as well appreciate the help!
After hearing an ominous noise today it's looking like I might need to change the DMF and clutch as well ! Only bought the car a month ago, bad times!

Hi, I'm in the same boat, as I had a broken spring spotted at the MoT station. VW Customer Service says that they have access to part numbers, but can't/won't give them to me; I'm supposed to have it looked at by one of their dealers, before they will tell me! What sort of customer service is that?

That's terrible. I bought the parts from ******* along with clutch and flywheel and I'm going to do it all myself. Crasher on here was very helpful and could tell me what part numbers I needed for my springs

Although take great care with *******, they lie and don’t have any in depth knowledge about what they are doing; you have to know exactly what you want and not trust their intervention via VIN as it is not accurate.

Ah, wish I'd known that. I had the car off the ground last weekend and the springs are correct (although to did give me the OEN for those), shocks looked correct too but I forgot to order the dust covers so just waiting on those, hopefully should be all good. Fingers crossed all the parts are correct then
