    Hi guys

So took my egr valve off my car today and I noticed the seal around the electrics on the throttle body was poking out the side.

So I took the case apart that holds the electrics (and mechanism to open the valve up inside the throttle body) and it had a LOT of oil in it.

Do you recommend changing the whole throttle body?

    Could this cause a vibration?

    Many thanks
    Rob

A VERY common problem, the oil gets in there through failure of its spindle seal so yes, you replace it.

Thanks mate. Also the crank pulley I think maybe another cause of the vibration. So I’m going to replace it. I assume I just undo the small bolts and slide it off the centre bolt.

Is there anything I need to be careful of?

You can clean out the electrics compartment with some brake cleaner or switch cleaner etc.

If you do, make sure you remove & clean out the electric motor as well & check for any damage on the plastic gears.

It will of course get more oil in there again.
But as it is virtually a maintenance item now to clean the accumulated crud on the flap, it will need re-visiting in the future.

The problem is the seal around the electrical part has completely disintegrated. I doubt very much I’ll be able to get a new seal for it.
