    Hello all,
Over the past few months I’ve experienced battery drain and from previous experience concluded it is yet again the ******* door handles which were all replaced 18 months ago!!!

I had open circuits and short to ground on the rear pair, so today I decided too first remove the rear passenger door and unplug the door handle connection so that it doesn’t cause a drain.

This was successfully done but now none of my door handles are working nor is the start button!!

Done many scans on obdeleven app and I’m getting the following errors (attached)

I’ve reconnected all the wires from the door card too the car but still no joy!! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! It appears that the main concern is the passenger start/authorise antenee?

I intend too unplug all the handles in time but I really want too preserve the keyless start function?

    Is this possible?

I read on another forum that you can unplug all the handles and they will still unlock when they are pulled just they won’t lock when the button on the handle is pressed.

I still have the door card loose fitted so I am able to test different suggestions, plus I have re scanned on one eleven after reconnecting everything but still have fault codes! I’m at a loss with this! Any help I’d greatly appreciated.

    Phil

Presented with that I would do a full code read and clear and then try all the systems then read again and attack each problem one at a time so choose an open circuit code and pursue it from component the controller using the current flow diagram on erWin. With only OBD11 I think you are really going to struggle, I imagine I would be logging into the ODIS portal and using Guided Fault Finding to try and reduce time spent chasing dead ends.

Thank you for your response! Yes I only have obd for the time being of I can’t sort it I will have too take it to an Indy to get it sorted. Through more searching online tonight one possibility is that the proximity sensor and the tweeter have the same connectors of which I havnt reconnected yet!! Didn’t think for one minute that the security system would be connected to the entertainment system!

Will try and connect Them all again in the morning and see if it makes any difference!!

If I can’t get the door handles sorted I think my only solution would be too hook up a solar powered charger to the battery and leave it on the dash too prevent the car going into energy saving management all the time! Sometimes the battery is so low the start stop fails and I get abs/traction control faults when it tries too restart.

Checked all these codes and they are all caused by the lower limit voltage so I’m not worried about any of the modules concerned I just need to keep the battery topped up!

I don’t use the car much maybe once a week at most and average 4000 miles a year so it doesn’t get much time too charge while driving.

I`ve seen a problem like yours cause a non-start situation by a door handle putting spurious CANbus signals out and upsetting the systems. Try plugging one handle in at a time in case your issue is down to only one handle.
