    Need to change my BPW engine as seized what is the difference between the BPW and the BRE engine I see both are 140 and non dpf believe there are a couple of other 140 engines just can't find a article detailing the differences and where you can strip to short engine and use

    Sometimes the engine code is model/brand specific, although many engines can be identical across the VW group.

    BPW double trouble as chain driven balancer shaft oil pump modual ( poorly tensioner ) and 77mm oil pump drive and balancer shaft keyway issue and your cause for it being seized ??

    BRE , gear driven balancer shaft oil pump modual which is fine , still a flawed 77mm oil pump drive and its corosponding balancer shaft keyway issue .
