Hi! I was wondering if anyone could tell me is this the standard exhaust on a mk6 or has a previous owner welded an exhaust tip onto it already. I was looking to add a twin exhaust tip to it but not sure whether I have to take this other tip off if it is one.

Thanks for that! Would you have any ideas about going about taking the existing tip off or would you get a different exhaust tip with a larger inlet?

My suggestion would be the easiest option, without a great deal of adaptation this could be made to fit very easily VW Golf Mk5 1.4TSi/GT 07 on Stainless Steel Jetex Back Box 40-B5DR | eBay

I was hoping that I would just get to remove the existing exhaust to somehow and simply clamp the new one on I didn’t think it would be too difficult to get the existing one off.

Many decades ago (not joking either) I dabbled with bolt on tailpipes from an Italian company called Bosi and they were a trial getting a secure fit, the thought of it falling off and bouncing down the road is unpleasant... The length you have available after the curve is going to make a clamp on pretty difficult plus the diameters available are limited, I think the outside diameter of the pipe before the welded on section is 55mm. Jetex do some clamp on talpies but the closest to yours is 63mm and that would make clamp on very difficult so it would need welding on. This is 220mm long
