I've never removed any oil because this message doesn't appear every time so I assume it's just quite sensitive to small changes when on max rather that there being a significant overfill and issue.
Thank you, I'm sure you're right. I spoke to an Audi independent garage yesterday and they said that if the oil had been seriously overfilled then there would be smoke coming out of the exhaust which thankfully hasn't been the case. I still haven't been able to locate the dipstick blanking plug though if anyone knows where this might be? I'm guessing I'd need to remove the engine cover to see it.

Thank you, I did try to reply to your PM, but for reasons unknown any message I write doesn't seem to send. I've nothing in my 'sent' folder at all

Morning, pull the engine cover off, the “dipstick pipe” is towards front right of engine as you look at it. I’ve had the message twice, only needs a small amount removed to correct it.

I have just ordered one of these as clearly it's the only accurate way of measuring the oil level. Laser say that for post 2009 2.0 diesels the ring should be set at 46 but I've read a post on this forum that says it should be set at 70. I wouldn't have thought Laser would get this wrong, can someone using one of these with a Tdi Ultra engine please confirm?

The dipstick arrived and I tried it, but the oil level didn't seem to register so maybe the ring setting of 46 is wrong or maybe the oil is still too clean to see properly (only 240 miles since the oil change). Not that easy to get the dipstick in, requires a bit of force! However, the car is now saying the oil level is ok. it seems to catch some oil on various parts of the dipstick after removing it which doesn't help.
