Golf Mk4 central locking pain in my a*s!

Do you hear things trying to move when you press unlock button on door? If so banging on inside or outside of door to give it a jiggle while pressing button may get them unlocked.

Yeah I can hear the car unlocking but not sure on individual doors. Watched a video of people doing as you suggested but I tried with no luck

Sounds like the lock modules will need replacing or repairing then. Often a quick job to fix them with a bit of solder on electrical joints that crack.

How DIY enabled are you?

You can often get the card layer inside tge door off even with door closed. Then fiddle with mechanism until door opens, then repair / replace. Uncomfortably tight with seats in, and they may even need to come out which takes you into dusconnecting batteey so airbags are safe to unplug, etc.

Or if you take window all theway down and remove squeegie bits in slot it goes up in you may be able to see lock mechanism to poke at. If you can get the deadlocks off theres a decent chance of passing MOT.

You'll need a good selection of Torx and triple-square fittings for a socket set as well. If ypu don't have those you're edging towards cost of a good value mechanic doing the work for you.
