    Hi Guys,
I have a 2010 Passat B6(CBAB engine)that has diesel getting into the oil. Car is driving fine, No issues but checked level on dipstick and was way over max fill line, I've done good bit of research on the common rail engine and it's either pointing to the tandem pump seals or injectors, I've had a good poke around and no sign of any fluid around the tandem pump, do injectors usually "go" on these engines? Is it a case of replacing the seals or do the injectors crack and need replacing? Milage on car is 170k miles but has been well looked after. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Darren

It does not have a tandem pump, that is a PDTDI.

Oh I thought they had one the RHS of the head. Could you shed any light on the injectors? Do they generally fail requiring replacement or would new seals fix the issue?
    Thanks for the help

The pump on the head is only a vacuum pump. Do you get smoke at idle or are having DPF issues?

Ah ok. No smoke at idle. I did notice a few puffs of smoke when accelerating away from slow speed. No DPF issues

Fuel should not be able to get into the oil with CR unless it is excess combustion fuel and that usually leaves the idle smoke clue. Firstly you need to have the leak off rates checked. Be aware that during this the return rail often falls to bits so factor this in with the costs.

Thanks for the replies. Ive had a closer look today and one of the o-rings around injector 1 looks frayed and definitely leaking something. I've attached a picture. Would this cause diesel into oil ?

It is plausible, it won't harm to change the seals but it is not a quick job and often the return rail falls to bits.

Thank you for the help. Your knowledge on here is super. Looks like that top plate part is separate and comes with a seal. I'll get a leak test done on the injectors first of all and go from there and report back

    Thanks
