Hi All. Does the 2020MY come with self park/parallel park assist etc as standard? Can’t seem to work this out. Cheers

It is not a standard option. What is even more interesting in 2020MY if you order self park assist you can not order the 360 degree cameras system. And vice versa. Apparently, these systems are interfering with each other.

I was told by my dealer that Audi have discontinued the self parking features for UK models. In fact his first question was when ordering the car: do you use the self parking. I said not at all, and he said good, as its not an option any longer.

On other European markets self parking as extra option is still available. But it is clearly stated in configurator: not available with 360 degree cameras option. So either the self parking system or omnidirectional cameras.

What an improvement over the non-FL model, which could handle both of these features in the same car.

Yep it's because the combined control unit for both 360 cameras and self park parking sensors can't do both simultaneously.

In the original 4M they were separate control units so was possible.

Audi expect this to be fixed with a software update in the future. Not sure on time scale.

Thank you Andy for the explanation. However I think, a low level car manufaturer can think like this for any reason, but
this logic doesn't fit a premium manufacturer. In my opinion, loosing an existing ability is not a mistake but a shame.

To invent an upgrade without having at least the same knowledge as it was earlier is an unacceptable concept failure. Probably I have too big expectation, but in the past years, I'm getting more and more wondering about Audi. I think, the time is changing, and I don't like it at all. But it's my personal problem However this more and more problems, and loss of features, and knowledge - IMHO it's a not a good vision for Audi.

Throttle lag issue in new engines, no self parking with 360 cameras, withdrawal of Lidar (laser scanner) for Assist Systems, no Drive Select in steering wheel star button, no red warning lights in the doors, no door pockets lights, no double sunshades, fake exhaust tips... etc. Cost savings or technical inefficiency in new Q7 and Q8? Probably both. Why other producers don't have these problems? I have been faithful to Audi for many years but I am slowly starting to watch other car brands.

I was watching a russian car blogger talking about the throttle lag, and he said that if you switch off the start-stop system, that eliminates any lag. Apparently its down to the Mild hybrid system and energy recovery. Still awaiting for mine one, so once is here will be trying it.
Are you sure its been discontinued the Lidar sensor, I have been doing research and it sounded like it was only in US and on few models. Nevertheless , if my driver assistance system work without it, why I would care.
I have the self parking on my current A7, and used it once to demonstrate the wife, and thats it. doesn't bother me at all.

Honestly I never felt the need for it in my A6s. However I was really suprised with this in the Q7, because I use it fairly often. It was a real surprise for me, that even with a 360° cam, sometimes it's a hard to park with this car into a small place. Well of course, sometimes the system says this space is not enougn, and then I will take over, and show her, who is the boss here
