Two years old next month and its first service...

Morning all,
As the title says my A6 is two years old next month and is due its first service (advisory service alert shown).
my question is what's the difference between a 1 years / 10K service yearly and the flexi up to 2 year / 20K service.
Aways stuck with the 1 year / 10k service yearly until getting this car, had many other Audi / VW cars before this one tho.

Service at 1 year is esentially an oil change, 2nd service at 2 years is oil change plus inspection service. Your car is set to variable servicing and therefore extends the time for the oil change from 1 year/10k to when it feels it is required based on a load of parameters. Inspection service is still at 2 years for variable. If you do low mileage 10k per annum or less or mainly city driving then you should not be on varaiable servicing as the oil takes more punishment. Many on here will say you should not be on variable servicing at all but Audi and many others offer it to help fleet managers keep their costs down.

So.. today I went in to Audi to get some prices for my 2 year / 20K service.
£414 including a pollen filter change, so I rang Audi central up who quoted me £476 for the same.
Then I rang my local VW / Audi / Seat specialist garage who quoted me £210 and they told me they can also update the system with all the service info (just like Audi do)
Can not believe the cost for what is basically an oil n filter change, pollen filter change and a look around the car.

Guess I know where Ill be going...

Hi the cost is that high because it’s under 3 years old, it’s a rip-off. Had to suffer that with mine then purchased a 2 service package for just over £400 through Audi. That includes all items for the next 2 services so a good price, no time limit and it is for the car not the owner, so is transferable. Online at Audi UK if you want to have a look...

Mine gets serviced every year so I bought a plan when I got the car, now it's over three years old it's (almost) cheap as chips.

I’m pretty sure the £476 is for a 2 service plan. Can be bought anytime up to the point of servicing it the first time.

Still a lot.

I think you are seriously under estimating the amount of work involved in the 'door hinge lubrication': supervision, master tech only job, health & safety forms and final inspection by the dealer principal.
