So, went to get the wheel alignment done today and they were unable to do it as they said the nuts were rusted/siezed on and that the track rods and the inner tie rods will need to be replaced.

I will be looking to do this myself, has anyone done this before? According to the workshop repair guide it says that the whole steering rack needs to be removed...

Do you think they might have said that because they could do the work and make more profit? I'd try and get them freed up and try another workshop, unless you think replacing them makes sense anyway of course.

I don't think that's the case I always use them for my car mots and they know I will do the work myself.
I did manage to free one side with some wd40 and elbow grease, but the other one is properly stuck, I've ordered some new replacement nuts so I'm thinking of cutting it off and replacing it as the track rod end is free.

Great to have someone like that to work with.

PlusGas is often better than WD40. Maybe some heat?

Update on this; tried some plusgas but that didn't really do much and I didn't have anything to apply heat with, so got the dremel out and cut off the old nut and at the same time replaced both track rod ends and new nuts as well.

Wheel alignment all done and good to go now.
