    Hey

I am very new to this forums and looking for some info about fuel economy from you guys. I recently changed my Audi A6 C7 2.0 ultra diesel which was great on fuel to a 2016 A6 C7 3.0 diesel 272bhp s-tronic. Before buying the new A6 I did a bit of research on fuel economy to compare the 2 and from what I looked up it didn't seem to bad. But since owning the new one I seem to be getting pretty poor fuel economy and just wanted to know if this is the norm. I am lucky to get 23-24mpg around town and on a longer journey I can get it to 35mpg and that's driving like an old man. I have seen on some forums people claiming to be getting 40mpg and 30ish around town. I always knew it would never be as good as my last A6 but didn't expect this big a difference. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Gordon

Hi Have a look at posts about emissions fix on 3l cars, think it has caused MPG problems.

    Hi Gordon

I have a 272, I get around 30-33 around town and on a motorway run I can get it to about 45 if I'm really careful, usually around 40-42 driving normally though. My overall is about 37 from 50,000 miles. The car has had an emissions fix, its a 2017 so should be comparable with your 2016 one. I have the car in Eco pretty much all the time and drop it into Sport at junctions, roundabouts and for overtaking, which to be honest I do quite a lot. Not sure if this helps, but this is my experience of it!

For the performance I think this is pretty good.

    Matt

Interestingly, it looks like the bi turbo's do a bit better.

You should never believe the ‘official’ figures.
    always ask around.

And change your driving style, let the car roll up to junctions and traffic queues - just be smooth and the economy will improve.

    I had a 3.0 A8 D4 with the 8 speed box. I used to get 40-45 mpg on my 120 mile A1 commute.
    My A8 3.0 A8 D3 with 6 speed box used to give me 34-36.

I would expect more from the A6 - lighter car for starters.

Best motorway mpg @ 70mph was 42mpg, dash showed 52mpg.
Normal commute is 34mpg with 10 miles on A road at 60-70 mph and 5 miles on B roads, dash shows 35-36mpg.
i expect 560-580 range on full tank.

Thanks for you reply Matt, I would be happy enough with the figures you seem to be getting that's what I kind off expected to be honest. Did you notice a difference after the emissions fix as not sure if mine has had it done yet as only had the car 7 months now. I have some people claiming that the car drinks though the ad blue after the fix?

It'll burn through fuel and adblue, bugger the EGR valve and cut the life of the DPF dramatically.

My 218 Allroad gets about 560 miles from full to fuel light. As above adjust your driving, don't launch from lights and junctions, and lift before lights and junctions. This time of year there is additive in the fuel which will bring your MPG down. In the summer I get at least 600 miles to a tank commuting (11 miles mainly motorway).
On a run I can get over 800 miles to a tank.
Check your tyre pressures, they can rally hamper MPG.
I never use my car in economy mode, its always in comfort and occasional dynamic mode. My car has not had the emissions fix as it will adjust software I don't want adjusted.

Might also be worth filling up and using a fuel injector cleaner and taking it for a decent motorway drive.

    Something like this: Sites-halfords-uk-Site

    Audi SQ5 (C+S) in Ultra Blue (2022)
Yamaha DT400E in Competition Yellow (1977)
