I have a Golf Alltrack MY 16 and am thinking about replacing the battery.

I have a memory saver to save all settings before I remove the battery. If I replace like for like is it still necessary to have the ÉCU coded to recognise the newer battery characteristics?

Or can I ignore all those 'experts' who insist that it needs coding to the car?

I replaced my Audi A4 battery successfully. There are a few posts giving tips. I think the main point is to keep a battery charger connected so that a charge is running until the new battery is connected. I didn't need to recode the new battery with VCDS or anything else.
