    Hi Guys,
I'm a new member here and have just acquired this 2.5 Tdi AKE engined Allroad with 230,000kms, bought in non running condition. A bit of history: previous owner told me he left the lights on one night and ran down the battery, so jump started it and left it idling to charge the battery. The coolant fan however has pretty much lost all of its blades (which he had forgotten about). As a result, he says it blew some coolant out. He filled it up and ran it a for few days, ran fine, didnt blow coolant, but one day not long after that it refused to start but turns over fine. He assumed it had blown a head gasket and wanted it gone.

From what I know of diesels, they dont normally blow head gaskets just sitting and idling so was hopeful that there was some other problem. I have purchased VCDS and it shows
00542 - Needle lift Sensor (G80): Open or Short to Plus
I have measured the plug from the #3 injector with my multimeter and have a dead circuit.

    My questions are:
where is the best online store to purchase a replacement injector?
    Is AUDI - SKODA - VW 059 130 202 G the appropriate injector
Would this fault stop the car from starting, I see plenty of posts from other owners with this fault but their cars still start.
Does the fuel pump also need to be primed first?
Is there something else I might be missing?

Any help would be much appreciated

    Dale

If he Ower heat a diesel engine, why you think your heads sits still flat on the block??? Diesel engines can have even more possibilities to get blown cilinder gaskets then petrol, one of the reasons is the compression......

Its my experience that diesels dont usually build up heat when sitting idling, unlike petrol engines, however wouldnt it still fire up even if it had warped a head, albeit run roughly?

Also, would an overheat trigger a fault code or codes?

If your coolant and oil looks good and levels stays where they are then the heads probably are fine

Dalewrc30, when you say "measured injector #3 " what test point are you using?

The injectors I thought on these are mechanical with timing controlled within the high pressure pump head.

I hate reading threads where the OP doesn't bother to finish the story, in this case it was the #3 injector. It sends an electrical pulse which determines the timing sequence for the pump. I managed to replace it with another less used injector and its running fine now.
