With my work recently, I'm having to travel along country lanes but finding the lighting poor on dipped.

Am I correct the self-levelling main beam can only be a adjusted via VCDS software and the dipped manually.

Any advice of which is the best dipped bulb for brightness/lighting for country lane driving.

Is it the facelifted A6 with the xenon? If so they can only be adjusted with vcds or equivalent as the car needs to be put in a learning mode. If you adjust it without going into that learning mode then it'll just revert back again.

If the beam is good but the brightness is poor then I believe the Osram Night Breaker plus are the brightest xenon bulbs on the market. Not cheap but best according to objective tests ive seen online. I have them in mine and they are much better however ive got the problem of the beam being too low like yours. Ive yet to get it sorted but I know the procedure as ive discussed it with my vw/audi specialist who can adjust it to the height allowed by the mot.

Yes there are the ones. They're great but standard 4300k colour so if you want white then their cool blue intense is your best bet. Colour nicer but less performance. Whether it's noticeable in the real world i don't know.

I also changed from **** poor 35W generic Xenons to the Night Breaker Plus jobs.
Wow - I can see stuff now. Massive difference and I will get them again if I need too.

Price wise - £75-£90 a pair on eBay.

A bit of a faff to fit on my D3 A8, but luckily I did not have to remove the bumper for it.
