Has anyone here had water in the front footwells that didn't come in via any of the following areas?

    Right hand side

    • Door seals
    • Bonnet cable grommet
    • Rectangle access panel

    Left hand side

    • Blind/blank grommet
    • Air blower intake duct
    • Door seals

I don't know of any other way water could get in from the scuttle area.

There appears to be a lot of water upwards behind the dash but doesn't appear to all be near the ways into the car from the scuttle panels.

    Any ideas? Thanks.

First photo shows upwards to the right (pollen filter and blower motor assembly area). There is some sound deadening foam which is also soaked and I'm wondering if it's even possible for water from grommets to track that far over?

For perspective, the second photo shows the glove box removed from the dash, where the above is upwards to the right of the glove box.

I'm just drying our Touran out after a leak from sunroof drain. That only affects one side usually though I think. Drains clear under windscreen / wiper area?

I don't have a sun roof, but I checked the drains, scuttle area is completely clear.

I have completely stripped the scuttle area, wiper motor off, the lot apart from a control box which appears to be hard wired, the wires for that go into the engine bay.

The heater matrix is a small radiator that the water from the engine circulates through for your heating (this is why your heater blows cold air until the engine warms up.)
Im not sure where they are on a mk5. A 307 has it slap bang in the middle behind the dash console.
