    Newbie here so be gentle.......
My fuel gauge always reads full it drops to empty when the ignition is switched off. This rules out the dash pod apparently.
I’ve been told that it is the fuel level sensor in the tank but I have had conflicting advice (no surprise there&#128580
My question is would I be better running the tank dry and trying to clean/free the float/sensor? Or would I be better to just replace the fuel pump?

We have never replaced a TT1 fuel level sensor but have replaced more dashes than I can remember. A diagnostic output test should proved more info as would disconnecting the sensor BUT doing that will generate a fault code so a fault code read before and after as a ghost code could confuse someone later.
