A6 3.0TDI Avant 2005 ESP Light and multiple VAG-COM errors

Hi Everyone,

This week on Monday my good old workhorse has dished me out with an ESP fault light on the dash with multiple other errors that I have found after the scan with OBD Eleven dongle.

Even after deleting all the errors they come back after driving the car approximately 8 to 10 minutes after starting it. If you stop, switch off the car switch it back on, the light is gone, but after ~10mins it comes back on.

The fault has no noticeable effect on the way the car drives. I have some suspicions about the electrics going wrong here, as the fault has developed after having the car left for a week, as I was on holiday. Upon return, I checked the battery level on MMI screen, which was showing just 1 bar from 0%. Discharge at this rate seems weird to me, especially when I have fitted a new car battery in November last year (and coding it).

Ohhh!
Could be low battery power/voltage - as they are extrememly fussy.
Did or has any water got into any of the units in the car?

Try the battery first. Give it a test, disconnect it and/or chargfe it up overnight. Clear the codes and see if they return after the battery has been fully charged.

No water to be found anywhere. I do have some battery drain problems going on, but that has been for about more than a year and never had any errors.

I used to charge the battery by taking old one home and at just plugging in a spare for the time of charge, but I've done exactly what you have said, last Sunday. Took out my battery, didn't leave my spare one. Charging took approx. 25 hours. Brought back the battery, connected it to the car and cr*p hit the fan. My key has lost sync with the ECU and since Monday morning I'm unable to start a car, as immobiliser just kills the engine immediately. No amount of silly tutorials online have helped me to resync the key with the car, so called out an auto locksmith who said that I need a security code, which has to come from Germany and since Monday he's waiting for that code to be received so he can re-code the key.

I do not recommend disconnecting the battery for anyone for this long if they don't want to re-code the key.

Once I'll have car working I'll see if the errors are still there.
