    Hi again folks,

I've been experiencing another problem with my recent change to the face lift Q7. Since the day I picked it up my interior alarm has been going off at least once every day. I took it to th dealer and they ran a quick diagnostic over the car and said there were no error codes showing up and was told to run the car for another couple of weeks. Thinking it may be battery related i.e. possibly undercharged from when I picked it up, I hooked it up to a ctek charger for 18 hours until the battery was fully charged, but that still hasn't resolved it.
It seems to go off randomly on the driveway, at work, in the morning and or in the night.

I'll take it back to the dealer for them to investigate further but I wondered if anyone could offer any help or advice as to what it might be? I would be good to know so I can have a knowledge chat with the workshop guys.
What does the interior alarm consist of i.e is it a series of mercury switches located around the vehicle or is it a single motion sensor? Does a motion sensor just need replacing - would that not show up as an error code? Does it work on light too - i.e. could shadows being cast set it off?

Any help or service diagrams would be amazing.

    Thanks guys.

If I understood you correctly, you have a problem with interior anti-theft alarm? The motion sensor is installed in the main headliner lamp, above the centre console. You can switch off the internal sensor via the button located in the driver's door (on the side of the door above the red reflector) or if you don't have this button via pressing twice the lock button in your car key.
Motion sensor doesn't work on light but could work on the rapid change of temperature.

Thanks for the reply. Yes that’s it. I’ve been deactivating it with that button and the double click of the car key when locking but I’m hoping they resolve it soon. I thought that the sensor was located in one of the pillars of the second row. Is the roof centre consol the only sensor for this. If so I will push my dealer to replace it. I was concerned if there was multiple Wiring for it throughout the car which would mean my new car being pulled apart to find the issue. If it’s just one sensor I hope they can fix it quick.

This is the whole alarm system in Q7. 7 is the motion sensor, 8 is the alarm siren. As you see this is not very complicated. It could be more difficult if there is a short circuit somewhere on the sensor cables. Hopefully your dealer will be able to fix it fast.
