Heater position motors

hello all, im trying to get my head around the different motors, as my demist stopped working. Got it going again now though. i have figured green is demist, the black one is centre vents/footwell. Blue is recirc, it’s the yellow/red which I need advice with. Yellow on drivers side I’m guessing is temp control drivers for drivers side and red is temp control passenger side? Am I right in thinking this? Just when I was messing about with them I never once saw the red one move, however I didn’t have the engine running when operating, weather this makes a difference I don’t know, I’ll have a mess about with it with engine running at weekend when I have some more time. Can anyone tell me if I have the colour functions correct?

Not sure if you got the answer you needed, but yes, you are spot on. Yellow is drivers temperature and red is passenger temperatue.

It's worth trying to get a VCDS fault scan, as these expensive little stepper motors get old, the variable resistor inside them, wears out. They then have a habit of going past their limits and jamming. They will then read an error on a fault scan.

It you remove the glove box, (6 or 7 screws) you can see the black, red, blue and green motors. With the engine running or ignition on, you can then adjust the climate buttons and you should see the motors physically moving. The yellow one on the drivers side is a bit more of a challenge due to it's location.

thanks for the reply, sorry I took a while to reply, I completely forgot, yes I sorted it out, I disconnected the demist motor, and repositioned the linkage and it has worked spot on ever since. I think as you said it went past it’s limit and jammed up. As soon as I remember motor and worked the linkage manually, it all felt ok, I reconnected the motor, worked it a few times then reconnected the linkage and bolted it back on. Touch wood it’s been ok since!
