I purchased a 2015 A4 Quattro last week and it came with 4 fairly new tyres. Three of them are the excellent Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, however, the rear left is a Powertrac City Racing (Chinese brand).

I'm a bit nervous about having a brand I've never heard of on one of the wheels. There's not many reviews of it online so I don't know much about it.

What would you guys recommend I do? Replace with another PS4S, or keep it on? I do mostly town driving with the occasional motorway run, averaging about 4000 miles per year in total. Bearing in mind it's a quattro and so 60% of the power goes to the rear.

The guy on Tyre Reviews YT channel (he knows his sh*t) said I should be very cautious of going right in the wet which concerned me a bit.

    Your thoughts would be appreciated.

I'd change it. Wasn't happy that our 2nd hand car came with a couple of similar brand tyres on the rear in general, or with the specific handling on a couple of roundabouts. Much happier after changing them.

If you can find a rim cheap on eBay I'd consider putting it on there. A full size spare can be handy to have for longer or overseas trips even if you'd prefer not to be on that tyre. But also quite bulky...

Change it. You don't want a Chinese Ditchfinder on a car like that.
Probably the dealer putting on the cheapest bit of rubber he can find.

If anything, he should have replaced the tyres on that axle.

I'd try to find the same tyre but with similar tread wear. (2nd hand is better than the ditch)

Thanks for all your input. I am going to get another PS4S on that wheel on Friday.

Update: I got a new PS4S fitted, or so I thought it was new. The tread of the "new" tyre is 6mm exactly. It should be around 7.4mm according to Michelin UK. Needless to say I have complained to the company I purchased from and awaiting a resolution.

I do want a brand new replacement with about 7.4mm, but then it occurred to me that my other 3 tyres have 6mm (front left) and 5mm (both right) tread.

Bearing this in mind should I keep the "new tyre" and ask them to knock off half the price? Would you say having 2 tyres 6mm on left and 2 tyres 5mm on the right is acceptable? Or should I ask them to add both 6mm to the rear and both 5mm to the front.

    Thoughts please.
