I am new here - I currently own an Aud A2 and its been an amazing little car for me over the years.
But I think I am going to be applying for an internal job soon, and have always been a fan of the A4 Avant, and I could do with a bigger car going forward and with this new job i'll be getting a car allowance, which basically states that the car has to be less than 10 years old.
Ive read in different places that the best engines are the 2.0 TDI Quattro, and the 3.0 TDI Quattro.
If anyone could give me there thoughts?
I know i'd ideally like to find a car from 2011, with full leather, pan roof, full mmi, s line ideally, but it is the engine I dont know what to opt for. Many Thanks in advance.

A B8/ B8.5 , 3.0 quattro S line was going to be my next car for years , but ended up with a S204 Merc 2.1 biturbo C250 CDI AMG Sport Blue efficientcy .

3.0 derv torque without the 3.0 fuel consumption .

Whats the difference in MPG between say the 3.0 TDI Quattro, 2.0 TDI Quattro and the non Quattro versions and the Merc?
I'm not a big fan of Mercs in recent years if I am honest.

Personally I'd go for the 2.0 TFSI engine. Having said that, consumption on a 20 mile each way commute was around 28mpg, and I never bettered 34 on a run.
    2018 (2017MY) S3 2.0TFSI Sportback Quattro S-Tronic in Nano Grey Metallic.

Black Edition, Reversing camera, Parking System Plus, Hill Hold, Super Sports seats, heated, Dipping exterior mirrors, B&O, Advanced Key, Magnetic Ride, Red Calipers, 19x8J 5-V-Spoke wheels in matte titanium.

I had a B8 2.0 tdi Quattro Avant S line. Not impressed with the fuel economy what so ever ( 170bhp) Nice car but juicy, especially round town.

My current A6 3.0tdi quattro avant is only a little bit more thirsty with loads of extra grunt.

I agree with going TFSI, much easier to maintain, no dpf, horrible smelling fumes or mucky egr to worry about. I had the 1.8TFSI Avant and loved how it drove, so comfortable, quiet and clean. I would also go with the tiptronic gearbox for extra comfort.

If you go for a 2011 does that mean you need to change again in a year as it is 10 years old?
I would go for the 3l as the difference in MPG is not much but it depends on your mileage. Takes a while for the diesels to heat up and get more efficient. I would also give the pan roof a miss.
Current- A6 C8 40 tdi quattro s line Daytona Grey
    Gone-S3 sportback, A6 C7 biturbo saloon,A4 B 8.5 avant, A6 C6 3.0 tdi Quattro saloon, A6 C5 2.8 Q Avant
