    Hi there,

I'm shopping for a mk7 or 7.5 GTI. I'd like to know when Android Auto was first supported, and how to easily tell. I believe all 7.5 GTis support it, but when did the mk7's start supporting it?

I retro-fitted an Alpine i902D-G6 to my current mk6 Golf, but it was expensive (over £1000 fitted) and I can't really be bothered doing this again on its replacement - especially when the screen has to do so much more on the mk7.

    Thanks for all help.

    - Rob

Don't think the MK7 did as standard. Wife has a 66 plate which can have it but it's not activated. £300 to do that I think.

Thanks for that, that's good to know! Any idea how I can tell whether a used GTi that I'm looking at is capable of this or not? The ones I'm looking are all around 3 to 4 years old, although I'm tempted to up my budget and get a mk7.5...

Plug in a phone would be the only way I think. The screen looks the same otherwise until you plug in.
