This is so unbelievable I thought I had to share it.
On Monday our 3 month old 69 plate Q7 went to the dealer for some warranty work (brakes glazed over). I specifically told them NOT to wash the car which she wrote on the job sheet as it’s orca black and I knew their shoddy car wash service would leave it looking like it’s been cleaned with a Brillo pad.
Tuesday evening the car is delivered to my house and guess what - it’s been washed!!
Not only that I have also had some free scratches and swirls applied to the car.

Photographs duly sent to the dealer principle - yesterday afternoon the service manager called me and is now trying to deny they washed it. Regardless of the fact they have stated it’s been washed for my satisfaction on the paperwork receipt they’ve given me, plus the fact it has obviously been washed. They are telling me my car was not on the job sheet for the valeters and it’s impossible that it could have been washed. They are reviewing the CCTV of the wash bay - which I offered to come down and review it with them. Needless to say that offer was declined and they are coming back to me.

Thankfully I have CCTV outside the front of my property and you can clearly see it was dirty when I left and clean when they dropped it back - but I’m holding that ace up my sleeve until it gets really ugly.

Detailer has advised around £650 to put it right.

    Really unbelievable situation.

Contact Audi UK for a swifter resolution.

I always stipulate no wash and clean when I take mine in.

This happened to my orca black.

I hadn't requested a wash and they didn't ask or tell me It would be washed.

They had washed It, I kmow this because I personally detailed it and know it was split mint, if had it from new.

As I did the work myself I had no proof of a detail but I didn't tell them this. Said I'd had it detailed and ceramic coated..... Response was the ceramic coat stops scratches .

When I told them the real capabilities of a ceramic coat the 19yr old service advisor referred to his seniors.

Got a quote for £500 for corrective polish and ceramic coat from a detailer and they paid it straight to him.

    Don't stop pushing

Thanks. Good to hear other experiences.

Audi UK said first port of call is to go through the dealer - so I’ll give them till this afternoon to fix it, otherwise Audi have said they will speak to the dealer.

Devastating situation to be in with such a new car.

It is amazing how little care dealers take with the paintwork. Fortunately my dealer has always respected the no wash request.

I hope you get this sorted at no cost.

Reminds me of when I went with the mother-in-law to collect her new Fiesta several years ago.

They had someone going round all the cars on the forecourt giving them a wipe down. Here’s a picture of the bucket. Judging by the plastic cup, they were also combining with litter pick!

And that's the problem. My local Ford dealer, uses the same Detailer/valet, that I use.

He does a thoroughly professional job and I'm very happy with him.

If Keith Motors (Ford) can run to a professional detailer, you have to wonder why Audi utilise the services of the bucket-and-sponge brigade.

Therefore, if you don't have to do something under warranty try to avoid Audi services. Whenever they do something with the car, they must damage something.

Twice they overfilled oil during the change and after my intervention they had to suck off excess oil, once they did not properly close the engine oil cap and after 20 km the car began to emit clouds of blue smoke from under the bonnet. Of course they paid for washing the engine but it was rather a poor consolation. Another time, an electrician doing a simple service broke half of car clips in removable panels. I have many examples like these from my experience. Now, I instruct them thoroughly, wait at dealership for the car if possible, check the car 10 times after being released from the service and never allow them to wash my car.

Of course when you come to them with a more complicated problem, they are often helpless.

The problem is that they are accustomed to customers who do not pay attention to it (often company cars) and that is one of the main reasons why the quality of their service is so poor.

I think my Audi dealership doesn't like me because I pay attention to every detail, I know a little bit about the cars and I instruct them what and how to do the service for me. But this is their problem!

    Still waiting for updates 😤
The dealer has to wait for a third party CCTV supplier to send the footage. Sounds like utter nonsense to me.

Audi UK have spoken to the dealer and they’ve fobbed them off too with the same delay tactics.

Feel for you on this - never understood why they don’t care and respect the cars. Ultimately I bet the team washing and cleaning the cars have KPIs to meet and rush it.

My dealers who I don’t mind washing the cars have always done a good job - but did mess up at one point - however my dealers were great once I alerted them to getting everything sorted.

Hope they come good and sort this out for you
