    Hi all,

New to the forum and a big hello from Yorkshire!

I've recently bought a "63" plate A6 Avant black edition pre face lift with Xenon lights.

Driven it for the first time this week in the dark and the dipped beam is aiming very high! Every other driver keeps flashing me!! For the time being I've enabled the "driving on the right setting" which had dropped the beams and only got flashed a couple of times since. It's just passed it's MOT. I also have a "13" plate A3 s-line with Xenons and have compared the aim and confirms the A6 is aiming high. When the car starts up it does the who "up & down" xenon thing and both lights are aiming at the same height.

I've made the garage that I bought it from aware of the issue. Whilst they deal in high end cars, they are not audi specialists so I'm not holding out for a quick fix.

So what could I try/check in the meantime? A read on various forums suggests there are adjustment screws in the headlights? However, some have said that unless the lights are in an "adjustment" mode with VCDS that will just mess everything up.
Another suggestion was to check the tie rod for the light level sensor but I'm struggling to find a definitive answer as to where it's located on a C7 avant....front or rear or both? If so, where?
Anything else I can check myself on the drive? I dont have VCDS at the moment...

Should also add the car isnt flagging any warning messages.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi. If the dealer you purchased from are happy to resolve free of charge to you, I would let them get it sorted, even if they get it done by Audi. If you start messing around they may not want to play ball. Show them evidence if the beam being high with photos comparing it to your other car. Give them the chance to resolve this first befor you do anything else. Good luck.

Ok I’ll do that then. I suppose I was to save myself and the dealer the hassle and time given they aren’t local to me.

Do the A6 xenons generally aim quite high anyway. Research suggested this might be the case and simply running over minor bumps in the road may look like I’m flashing other road users.

Given the car is new to me, and I’ve driven other cars with Xenon/LEDs and never had this issues, I was looking for a bit of feedback?

I have a 2014 A6 with xenons and my lights don't aim high at all.
I did need a headlamp replaced by the dealer not long after I bought the car but in failsafe mode, the light aims very very low to avoid dazzling.
Not sure why it would aim high... Possible stuck sensors??

Does your car have the self-levelling suspension and auto-adjusting lights?
So, when you turn the engine on, the Xenons come on and lights adjust up and down - as if settling down - and then sit still?

I think the Xenons are auto adjusting (legal requirement) whether you have self levelling suspension or not, based on my previous A6.

And the normal setting is not high by any means so this does sound like a glitch.

Hi "I think the Xenons are auto adjusting (legal requirement) whether you have self levelling suspension or not, based on my previous A6."
think this is correct, my 2003 TT has BiXenon lights and dose an adjustment when I turn them on. A6 Has LED which also go through movement when turning on.

If the sensor on the suspension is borked it should put up a code, mine did.

I got sorted in the end. The lights for some reason were just set too high.

Auto Technica in Hull sorted it for my. Diagnostics confirmed everything was behaving and they adjusted them back down to a reasonable level.
