    Hi All,

My son has a 2012 8P (one of the last). In September he had the dreaded instrument cluster failure, with all instruments failing and immobiliser cutting in so no start, which has been repaired.

All OK until last week, but now it intermittently goes into limp mode.

He has had it checked for error codes and it is coming up with:

    00003 - Control Module - Sporadic 014 Defective
00779 - Outside Air Temp Sensor - Sporadic 010 Open Short to Plus
00771 - Fuel Level Sensor (G) - Sporadic 010 Open Short to Plus

Can anyone shed some light on this please? Is it a software issue, or does it need more repair?

    Thanks!

Have you got the full fault code scan as you’ve put control module fault code but not what module it’s failed on.

    Thanks for your reply jonathanfenton

This was read using a VS450 scanner, so it's all the display shows

    00003 - 110 Can Bus 01/03 - Control Module - Sporadic 014 Defective
    00779 - 043 Can Bus 02/03 - Outside Air Temp Sensor G17 - Sporadic 010 Open Short to Plus
    00771 - 042 Can Bus 03/03 - Fuel Level Sensor (G) - Sporadic 010 Open Short to Plus

    Does that help?

Have a look on the VCDS map and see if someone local to you can scan it.

A quick update on this issue. Tried to contact local forum members with VCDS and unfortunately no responses, so took to my local independent Audi specialist, who scanned and confirmed EGR valve failure. They recommended taking to Audi for a scan etc. because we had the emissions software update done and this is known to kill the EGR valve, and Audi had been offering goodwill.

Long story short, Audi confirmed EGR valve failure, but as the emissions software update was over 2 years ago, no help or goodwill offered from Audi UK. Quoted £1,250, reduced to £1,050 for dealer goodwill.

In the end, took back to the local Audi specialist and fixed for £730 all in.

    Now running perfectly.
