    Also bearing in mind that what ever mileage is on your old car vs donor would also come into it with insurance and MOT wondering why your cars suddenly done a lot less miles. Having never done it I wouldn’t know who to inform to correct this but you will inherit the donors milage.

    You are correct though, VCDS can code all the other options and disable ones you don’t have etc.

    The donor key idea may work IF you removed the original chip. If you take a used panel to a company with coding gear, they can make it work.

    Is there any way I can make the key open all the doors , it locks them all but it only opens the driver's door then I have to put the key in the ignition and press the unlock button on the driver's door ???? Pain in the **** !!!!

    Strange, my family has used them for about 30 years probably longer so may be more amenable to try things for us.


    If ODIS sees an error like a hardware issue like a rom failure it will come up with a repair procedure for the cluster so will walk you through it. That’s what it did with my ecu issue, we put new one in half way through procedure, it asked what options car had and it coded the second hand ecu to the car. Was quite impressive. Hence why I thought they’d do it for you.

    Googled it for you and it’s in control module 09 central electrics long coding helper, untick selective central locking active says box 3 but you would need to double check.

    its not there on mine 07 plate 2.0 tdi its under 46 but it is already unticked???
