    2.0 tdi gone to ****.
This happens christmas eve and only looked at it today.
Don't know what happened as the missus was driving it.
From her description sounds like it has ran away on its own oil, took off of its own accord loads of smoke and a few big bangs but due to her supreme knowledge and skills she managed to drive it home🙄
Anyway it's seized or hydraulic locked.
Plan on having autopsy when it's out. Replace the turbo if needed so no recurrence.
Used motors are plentiful but what will need to be done for compatibility? Is it worthwhile getting higher output?
    All roughly the same price
Does require turbo, ecu or can existing be remapped?
    Tia

    Ok
Pulled the cylinder head off today and number 4 rod detached from crank somewhere
No damage to the head or valves
Going to pull the motor and have a butcher's
Will make a decision on repair or replace depending upon what l find and cost of the parts

Bear in mind that the BRE has a flawed oil pump drive and if replacing like for like you must address this otherwise it's just a ticking time bomb .

Rain stopped play today doing this on the drive as garage is full.
Thanks for the pointer and yeah read somewhere about the pump upgrade, the sump has been off at some point white silicone is a bit of a giveaway. With any luck may have been done already.

Never rely on luck when the inconvenience of a turbo and engine is at risk .

Rod snapped holed the block behind oil cooler
77mm hex drive in the ballance shaft, was on its way out by the looks of things
I will post a few pics up when I get to desktop.

So engine is 108 what needs to be done if I put a higher output in.

Looking around for a new motor, higher output seem to be more available with better choice of milage etc.

    Cheers
