Is it possible to change “lane assist” so the default position is “off” as opposed to having to turn it off every time ?
    i simply hate it !

    +1 this!

I like the function if I’m driving a long distance on the motorway but for short journeys I’d prefer it to be off as default too.

Only via coding im afraid.. :-(

But be carefull. As it's a safety aid, the insurance may have something to say about it.

I share your views on “dangerous”. My driving is mainly on narrowish country roads but mostly with central line. When you are not expecting it you can easily over react to the swerve it induces.......B nuisance !
if it can be coded off.......it will be !

Country roads are a nightmare. I think my car actively hates cyclists the way it keeps trying to push me into them when I’m trying to nip around them!

I believe it has to be on as default else Audi lose percentage points in the Euro NCAP ratings, see here

A quick flash of the indicator to show you are pulling out cancels the Lane Assist for a short while to allow you to pull out
