    Hi there

I have a june 2006 reg Audi 3.2 quattro fsi Cabriolet with headlight problems... Basically, the drivers side headlight turns itself on when the car is off and locked!

No other lights come on and no lights are switched on. Some days it does it two or three times and some times it doesn't happen at all for a week or two... and obviously when I fail to notice it then it drains my battery!

I have searched the web endlessly for a thread containing the same problem looking for answers... does anybody here have the answer?

The nearest I have got to an answer is a damp (or moisture damaged) Comfort control unit, which I found on a thread from years ago. But when I went online today to look for a youtube video to show how to remove and clean it it showed the unit as being under the dash by the steering column, however when I first researched the problem the thread said the unit is under the passenger foot well carpet.

Has anybody had this headlight problem? have any suggestions as to how to resolve it?? and finally, if it is the Comfort control unit, where is it ???

All help would be VERY much appreciated.
    Cheers
    Neil

It is a fault with the “Onboard supply control unit” (often called the Body Control Module) and when using VCDS for diagnostics it is address 09 Central Electrics, not the “central electronic control unit for comfort system” (VCDS calls this the convenience unit at address 46) which is for the alarm, windows and locks. The BCM is under the dash above your right leg, the convenience unit is under the carpet on the passengers floor.

Thank you very much for your help Crasher, it is very much appreciated.
There is a good youtube video re swapping out the BCM so will take a look today and if it looks too involved I will book it in to a garage.
    Thanks again
