Hi guys im wondering about the procedure to blank off the egr valve in my car. I have a guy lined up to do the remapping side of things so as for blanking is it a straightforward blanking plate install?? Thanks

You don't need a blank unless the valve is faulty and stuck open .

With egr off remapping the egr remains closed .

If you have one of these engines you can fit an EGR simulator.

( Just copy & paste the above link, the clickable link is incomplete. )

It will be cheaper than a remap & totally reversible should you want to, also comes with a blanking plate should your EGR be stuck open.

I find it morally repulsive that people still engage in such practices knowing full well what a terrible effect Diesel filth has on people bodies, never mind when they have been tampered with... an EU5 CRDTDI with its EGR and additionally the exhaust after treatment removed produces more life damaging pollution than the very first VAG Turbo Diesels did in the 1980’s. On another forum I run this subject is banned and enforced rigidly.

I recently stumbled upon an Irish paper dpf removal article that categorically said dpf removal will blow heaps of black smoke and fail the MOT... simply not true !

It's either poorly written by someone that knows little about cars or is to the point of propaganda .

Yes , it will belch black smoke if you have a egr stuck open or a boost leak which is an underlying issue why someone might have it removed as these faults can quickly block a dpf .

What is wrong is some 2009 late Euro 4 dervs even just 1.8 L are allowed to blow the 1.5 default as their VIN plate value is 1.75 .

    I've a 1.9PD 2003 Euro 3 that fast passes at 0.34 !
