Ok so I was driving normally, and then my car started loosing power so I changed to a lower gear and after a couple minutes my battery light come on, my steering got heavy and my car cut out, when I went to start the car for some reason my starter motor wouldn’t engage, after I got the car home I checked my cam belt and when I looked at it there was 4 or 5 teeth missing, I won’t wanna put money into buying a new starter motor and changing the cam belt/ water pump etc... so could anyone help me and give me some options on what to do, I really don’t wanna loose this car or spend too much money on the car, thanks

That would require rotating engine and checking cam timing marks.

If the marks don’t line up it’s out of timing?

It might help if you told us what engine is in the car.
If it's a diesel, you could be looking at a mega bill, if a petrol you might be more lucky.
Bear in mind it is at least 15 years old (going by you posting in the MK 4 Golf pages), so it's probably not worth spending a fortune on it.
