yes acknowledged, the Audi connect licence extension I get the same update, in fact mine is due to expire next month. The map updates may or may not be an issue to you, but to me they do matter. I travel a lot in Europe and they appear to build motorways and redo junctions a lot quicker than us in the uk, so I appreciate up to date maps.

Yes understand your point, it's a pity Audi don't make clear the difference between maps and license.

I just have carplay activated and 1 month later the map updates hit the download quota of 6 so no more downloads. I am in Ireland and Audi said it could only be extended by a dealer.
The dealer i go to couldn't give a price for updates.

With having carplay you are no longer tied to this restriction, your maps are much more up to date than 2 times a year with Audi.
So the licence cost about 250 euro plus 1 hours labour, now I can use what every navigation I have on my iphone.

I got my map udates from these guys .."satnavupgrade dot com" (won't let me post the full url) came with full instructions and all the bits needed ... took a while but worked exactly as they said it would. ... I'll do it again in a year or so .. I don't think I need every single update

I have an old map in my A8, but I will probably buy an updated disc.

Maybe, by the time I get to the A8 D5, I'll have a look at the smartphone integration more.

My mate's S5 has this I think. I just presumed the mapping was an SD card map.
