The wipers on my A6 just died, stopped on the screen. It seems I can hear the motor whirring so it is a mechanical failure.

I can easily move the wipers up and down so its not seized.

Does anybody know is there something common fails that can be repaired or will it be a whole replacement part....is the motor known to strip the fitting to the linkage?

How is the assembly accessed.....and .is there any guidance as to what needs moving to get the parts out.

Thanks for any help...its off the road for sure in this weather!!

I have found the issue.....a nylon ball joint just under the motor is separated on the linkage. I have popped it on but it is clapped so will fall off again!
Anyone found a repair without replacement?

They are known to seize up, may need removing and cleaning/freeing the linkage.

perfect thanks, the first nylon joint under the motor is clapped...falls off. The proper joint repairs is the way to go on all 4, far better than those quick fix metal hold up plates which will not take play out the joints.
