Had the factory recall modification a couple of months ago to get rid of the poor low speed take up on the 1.5tsi estate. It got rid of the problem completely and seems to have improved the performance but seems to have reduced MPG by about 5%. Don't think it is my driving and just wondered if anyone else has had the same experience.

It was what I expected it would do, they were running them too lean.

So would this affect the CO2 rating?

In theory yes, certainly the Co2 figure will be higher but it depends if it gets reclassified. Man made Co2 is a fuss about nothing anyway, approx 15% of UK Co2 emissions are from ALL forms of transport of which approx 70% is from road transport where the UK is responsible for 1% of global CO2 so if we stopped all forms of transport in the UK, we would reduce the global output of Co2 by 15% of 1%, that's about the same amount as China's output increases every day. Looking at it that way could only depress you if you are a Co2 climate change worshiper.

I was thinking more about the tax liability! I am assuming that VW can't just make a modification that changes the \co2 rating without telling the authorities. Surely, after all that has happened......

Yes, if it gets reclassified, the increase may be within the band.

In your opinion, science and evidence suggest otherwise.

Isn’t VED no longer emissions based once registered, I thought it was a flat £140pa for vehicles under £40k list.

Scientists benefit hugely from this global warming nonsense with grants and other funding, many people are making a very profitable living out of it and don't want to know otherwise and there is evidence both ways but no proof. They keep going on about rising sea levels but there is again no proof it is man made or figures to show it is happening.

Keep wearing the foil hat - it seems to be working!

Just checked and apart from the first year VED (paid as part of the purchase), all cars are charged the same amount (£145pa) irrespective of the CO2 emissions so I wouldn’t worry about this.
